Development of an Advanced Control System and Software for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
SOLARMONITORING s.r.o. is a leading Czech company in the field of monitoring and diagnostics of photovoltaic power plants. It has been operating on the market since 2009, when it introduced a revolutionary software solution to increase the operational efficiency of renewable energy sources.
Since 2021, the company has begun developing software designed for monitoring and controlling battery storage and other energy storage systems, with respect to the European Union's requirements for cybersecurity.
In 2025, SOLARMONITORING s.r.o. began implementing the project "Development of an Advanced Control System and Software for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)", which is co-financed by the European Union under the Operational Programme Technologies and Applications for Competitiveness (OP TAC).
Project Goal
The goal of the project is to develop a new generation of intelligent control systems for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), which will utilize modern algorithms, artificial intelligence, and advanced data processing methods to optimize the operation of energy systems.
The developed solution will combine the functions of:
- Battery Management System (BMS),
- Energy Management System (EMS),
- prediction algorithms utilizing artificial intelligence,
- advanced monitoring and diagnostics of battery storage.
The developed system will enable real-time autonomous control of battery storage, energy flow optimization, prediction of electricity generation and consumption, and more efficient integration of facilities into providing ancillary services to the grid.

Repairing photovoltaic panels with polysiloxane (PDMS) gel directly at the power plant is not a short-term experiment. It is the practical outcome of long-term scientific research.
The guarantor of development and the author of patented procedures is prof. Vladislav Poulek (Faculty of Engineering, CZU Prague), who has been dedicated to silicone lamination research for over 30 years. Practical application, development of field spraying equipment, and measurement protocols in the field are provided by Ing. Václav Beránek, Ph.D. (Technical Director of SOLARMONITORING s.r.o.).
This tandem, together with other collaborators (T. Finsterle, M. Kozelka), published a pivotal expert monograph in 2024 titled "PDMS Gel Lamination Technology for PV Panels: Renovation, Recycling and Rapid Repowering", which details the behavior of the material in various climatic conditions.

Independent Verification
Our team's conclusions have been independently replicated and confirmed by other research works. For example, a study published by Springer (2025) documents in detail the restoration of wet insulation state (Risol) at several power plants where liquid silicone coatings were used.
A peer-reviewed overview by Voronko et al. (2021, Energy Science & Engineering) also lists silicones as the most stable solution for repairing backsheets with a minimal risk of delamination.
Demonstration Center FVE Měnín
To connect theory with practice, we operate our own development and testing center FVE Měnín (3.3 MWp) in South Moravia.
At this power plant, we test new generations of spraying equipment, monitor the behavior of gel applied several years ago, and verify the impact on the overall baseline production curve of the inverters.
