EMS – Energy Management System
Significantly expands your ability to control energy sources and power flows in real time. It connects photovoltaics, battery energy storage (BESS), the distribution grid and your plant's technology into one coordinated system that actively cuts costs and maximises energy self-sufficiency.
Energy under control, costs under supervision
Production processes, volatile power exchange prices, the risk of exceeding reserved capacity and fluctuating PV output all require intelligent coordination. SOLARMON EMS replaces manual intervention with automated algorithms responding within milliseconds.
How SOLARMON EMS integrates energy flows
The central control unit continuously evaluates generation, battery status, site consumption and exchange prices.
Generation & PV
Inverters, PV arrays and cogeneration units. Controlled power curtailment and safe oversizing of installed capacity.
Energy storage (BESS)
Industrial battery storage. Instant smoothing of consumption peaks, absorption of surpluses and storage of cheap energy.
Distribution grid & market
Monitoring of the maximum reserved capacity. Buying at low or negative spot prices, selling profitably during peaks.
Technology & Consumption
Production lines, HVAC, compressors and cooling. Load control, reactive power compensation and detailed circuit monitoring.
What SOLARMON EMS can do
A comprehensive toolkit for modern industrial energy management. Each module works autonomously as well as in perfect synergy.
Generation and consumption control
Dynamic coordination of all energy flows on site. The system reacts in real time to fluctuations in demand and plant output and optimises the use of available energy without delay.
Peak Shaving – reserved capacity control
Shaving consumption peaks using battery storage. Prevents exceeding the maximum reserved capacity and protects your business from heavy contractual penalties imposed by the distribution operator.
Reactive power compensation
Active power factor (cos φ) stabilisation directly via inverters and the battery PCS. Eliminates penalties for non-compliant grid parameters and reduces the load on internal transformers and distribution lines.
Grid stability and backup
Compensation of voltage dips and support of frequency stability. Combined with BESS, it enables seamless transition to island mode (microgrid / UPS) during a distribution grid outage.
Controlled buying and selling
Automatic connection to spot electricity prices (day-ahead and intraday market). Charging the battery during hours of low or negative prices, running on stored energy and selling during the most expensive peaks.
Higher share of own energy
Maximising local self-consumption of generated solar power up to 90 %. The energy stays within your company, minimising the need to buy expensive electricity from the distribution grid.
PV oversizing option
Installing a higher peak panel output (kWp) relative to the permitted inverter capacity (over-panelling). Midday surpluses are neither wasted nor fed into the grid – they are smoothly stored in the BESS.
Electricity monitoring
Detailed dispatch supervision connected to the SOLARMON 3.0 platform. Sub-metering of individual machines and halls, energy balance tracking, real-time alarms and clear reports for ISO 50001.
24 hours under SOLARMON EMS supervision
See how EMS autonomously manages energy flows in a manufacturing plant during a typical working day.
Starting production on cheap night-time energy
The first shift begins, lighting and auxiliary systems start up. EMS covers the increased morning demand from the battery storage, which was charged overnight at a low tariff.
Instant shaving of the consumption peak
The main production lines and compressor stations start up. Instantaneous demand would exceed the contracted reserved capacity. EMS instantly releases power from the BESS – grid consumption stays well below the penalty limit.
Full use of solar energy & storage
The PV plant generates maximum output, exceeding the plant's current consumption. EMS does not curtail the inverters – instead, all surpluses are smoothly stored in the BESS for the afternoon and evening hours.
Responding to negative and low exchange prices
When spot market electricity prices are negative or extremely low, EMS can charge the battery from the grid in a controlled way and collect a bonus for the energy consumed.
Running on stored energy and controlled selling
PV output declines while the market price of electricity reaches its daily maximum. EMS switches the plant to stored energy from the BESS. Any spare capacity can be sold to the grid at a profit.
Next-day forecast and strategy preparation
The plant switches to idle mode. EMS analyses the data, loads the irradiance forecast and next-day spot prices, and automatically prepares the optimal charging plan.
Where SOLARMON EMS delivers the highest return
The system is designed for commercial, industrial and energy operations with high demands on efficiency and stability.
Industrial and manufacturing companies
Operations with sudden load peaks (press shops, machining, furnaces, injection moulding). Eliminating reserved capacity penalties and stabilising power supply to sensitive lines.
Logistics and cold storage facilities
Using large rooftop PV systems to power cooling technology and to charge handling equipment and company fleets without overloading the grid.
Commercial and office complexes
Intelligent coordination of heating, cooling (HVAC) and server rooms. Lower distribution costs and compliance with ESG reporting requirements.
PV and BESS investors
Operators of commercial battery storage and large PV plants seeking maximum returns through flexibility and the spot market.
